Troubleshooting

  • A file came out bigger than the original Small, already-optimised PNGs or JPGs sometimes don't shrink. Lower the quality a little, or keep those originals.
  • AVIF is slow AVIF takes a few seconds per photo to encode on your device, and longer in Firefox. Choose WebP when speed matters more than the last few kilobytes.
  • One file shows an error It couldn't be decoded. The others still convert.

How many images at once?

For websites, usually: WebP is often 25–35% smaller at similar quality and supports transparency.
